O ROSE FORLORN by Joan Allen Pfeiffer
Oh rose forlorn
How ill you look
Your petals that are torn
Now tumble in the brook.
Advance of the gale
Torrents of rain
They had seemed to prevail
Now bring you to shame.
Friends they once were
Sky, earth, and sea
Once seemed so pure
Now deaf to your plea.
Hope in the Lord
Be of good cheer
From Him life is poured
You will bloom again here.
Choices, wrong or right, never control what God’s plan is for us. He is all Powerful. Losing hope is the worst choice we can make. Even when we feel persecuted, we can stay under His wings to become strong enough to fly again.
Paul made some choices with a huge plan in mind of Rome. He ended up being “jailed”, but God made this beautiful, for His good.
Acts 28:16 “When we got to Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with a soldier to guard him.”
Paul prayed to go to Rome to spread the Gospel further to the gentiles and the Jews. His expectations were highlighted as a missionary on a journey; but God had other plans. His journey became full with legalities. It was government against religion. Paul was “ping ponged” back and forth. God still controlled the outcome because his presentation of the Gospel during these times penetrated the area even to the emperor’s palace.
Sometimes we feel trapped or jailed because of our choices in life. The dreams or plans we had hoped for never happen or are changed. But God works for our good!
He may not make our choice feel comfortable or secure, but HE will always open the doors necessary to do HIS work. He will not let us fail…if we try!
Patience is a fruit of the Spirit that He has given us to follow His lead.
Romans 8:28 NIV “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His Purpose.”
