THE KINDLED MESSAGE

After Hurricane Irma many stores were overloaded with people and aisles were empty. As quickly as stockers loaded the items, they were emptied.

I pushed my cart into a long line at the register. There were a few Army soldiers ahead of me. In short conversation they revealed their assignment to assist those in need. Each of them held a few items. Without further thought I knew what I needed to do. They were giving of themselves to us and I wanted to give of us to them. Insistently enough I convinced them to allow my purchasing their items.

The total was completed and I had my card ready when the lady at the register said, “They were already paid for.” The man ahead of all of us in line had paid for them. He knew I was going to pay and I stared at him, he smiled and said, “You need to pay for the ones behind you.” Some soldiers had come up behind me without my knowing. God’s wonderful plan! I like to call this “the kindled message”, because many came through this line for the same purpose again and again.

No, this is not the first time this has happened in our community store. In the holidays, many will see that the family has told their children they cannot afford a pie for Thanksgiving or even a turkey. So, they will take the family shopping for a whole cart of food. The same occurs for Christmas. We see them counting their change and putting something on the side for lack of enough, and we pay for all of it. The “kindled message” is always free in our community and is full of smiles and love.

Do you think those Army men will be happy to be assigned here again? Do you think there are many times that Jesus is seen and shared in this Light of Love and sharing in our community? The “kindled message” is something Jesus showed us how to do. I have no doubt in my heart that these will always be great days to His purpose.

I tried to think of a place this happened in the Bible. Actually it takes more prayer to get this answer easily. I am sure most will remember this when I tell of it.

(John 4:4-42) This special reading of the Bible tells us a wonderful and amazing story that kind of fits the “kindled message”.

Jesus meets with this Samaritan woman. So this starts out “Amazing” since men were not supposed to meet with women alone nor did Jews meet with Samaritans.

Jesus tells her He knows everything about her! This kind of frightens her at first because her life has been so sinful, just like all of us. How could He know things no one else knew? She at first calls Jesus a prophet and says she has heard about the Jews bringing the Messiah. Jesus tells her He is the Messiah. Now she understands and believes in Jesus! His word is the “kindled message”.

She goes to the town and told them about Jesus and how He knew everything about her. She shares the “kindled message”. How she believes that He is the Messiah! She told them they had to meet Him. Then many of them met Jesus and became believers also. They started to say they did not need to believe her testimony now because they believed in Jesus.

The “kindled message” is alive and well today. We share Jesus and our testimony of why we believe. Through sharing and giving, others come to our church and believe too. Then they come down that aisle to believe as well and give their testimony. The town becomes a community of believers giving and loving in Jesus! They all become messengers of Christ!

Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”

So, here is the challenge to each spirit who reads this, read the Bible to find out about the “kindled message”. You will be amazed!
